M 28mm f5.6 Silver
M 28mm f5.6 Silver
[Wide-angle Prime Lens]
With the ultra-slim profile and vintage aesthetic, TTArtisan M 28mm f5.6 is designed for immersive street photography. The ultimate height of 19mm is achieved by this lens, which weighs only 151g. Such light and portable feeling provide a better condition for creation and minimize the disturbance to the subject.

It’s a very good lens for landscape or architecture. This lens is obviously not made for portraits. The focus distance (1 meter) is too long for this purpose.
Great build quality, sharp image and fast delivery to France. A+
Using it on a Leica M11. It’s tack sharp at any aperture. I set the M11 lens to “Summaron” but it’s no Summaron. It’s better in every way; sharper, more contrast, luscious color. It’s a true pancake and really unobtrusive, well, except for the retro hood, light and it’s become my go to street photography daytime lens. Great work TTartisan! My only criticism is that the odd shaped hood with the screw attachment may be period correct but it’s a pain to attach and a bit large. But no matter. The lens is a work of art.
First off I am not using it on a Leica M body, my main camera at the moment is the Sigma fp. It's my third 28mm lens but they are all M lenses, this lens is really well built and looks great. It's sharp and has good contrast with it's size this is the first 28 I grab. Two small things to improve, the lens hood looks good but I am not a big fan of clamp on hoods. If they could improve the flare resistance this lens would be perfect.
I have been able to use this in low light as the Sigma has really good high iso, but if I really need something else I do have a 28 1.4 to play with except for the size and weight which is why I picked up the TT Artisan 28mm f 5.6. I also have the 21mm f1.5 and talked a friend into your 50mm f1.4 which he loves and cannot believe the price on that lens.
The 28mm f/5.6 is a fantastic lens for what it is - super-small, well made and fun. It's a great fit on any M body I've tried it on (M8, M 262, M10) and has joined my travel setup almost immediately - it's a no-brainer to bring along because of its size. It makes any M jacket-pocketable, too - great!
Crucially though, optically, it really holds its own - it's sharp and contrasty already wide open, with pleasing colours, and at f/8, you can set it to two metres to basically have everything in focus (hyperfocal). Corners never completely sharpen up though, and it pays to use your rangefinder for everything closer than two metres in any case. I'm completely fine with the lens' performance.
The make and the looks are cute and appealing, but they have their downsides - even if the infinity lock makes it look and behave much like the lens it's modeled after, I see no real use for it, especially not at the size. It's not a big deal, but still something that can slow you down (or cost you the odd shot). And the slip-on lens cap, while really nice to look at, is an accident waiting to happen: If you (which you will inevitably try at some time) grab the lens by the cap, it'll come off - if you're lucky, it'll do so immediately, but if you manage to first lift it, you'll look at a dropping lens ...
I appreciate almost everything about the lens and love to use it, but sometimes wish it wouldn't try so hard to *be* vintage - it's good enough to work better without being "just a copy". Optically, it clearly isn't (which is a good thing!) - so I could live without it looking the part. Anyhow, for the price, you can't go wrong!
An amazing lens for a very affordable price. The build quality is outstanding with an eye to little details that will make the lens enjoyable to use for many years. Even the packaging is better than expected.
Performed better than I expected and the bokeh is bubbly with the right lighting conditions.
I am very happy with this purchase, I used them the other day for a project, and was delighted. They are the perfect match for the Sony Fx30. The customer service on the website was excellent as well.
This lens makes use of the classic Cooke Triplet design that saw the light of day more than 100 years ago. Those who use this lens are looking for an imagery that is no longer possible with modern, highly corrected lenses. If you want to learn more about it, you can check out Pavel Sinagl's review below, which really lays out the pros and cons in wonderful detail. I am very glad that TTArtisan has reissued this lens, as the copies from the analog era are now very expensive and often in very poor condition. New interpretations from other manufacturers are also worth a look in this context and score points with suitable mounts for modern camera systems and high-quality workmanship. However, the prices are significantly higher. The fact that TTArtisan has chosen the M42 mount is very clever, since this allows only one variant to be produced in a larger quantity, which ultimately reduces the price drastically. If you are looking for a special look and flawless feel, you should definitely take a look at this lens.
100mm F2.8 Bubble Bokeh
I start from the end - I really like this lens for its character and image quality. However, we need to have the same understanding of the terms "image character" and "image quality" so this review will be useful to you and not just perpetuation of superlatives without real meaning to you.
This lens truthfully mimic the famous "bubble bokeh" champion - 100mm f/2.8 Trioplan lens produced in the 50's of the previous century. It is often described as "soft focus" and very often used for portraits but also for semi-macro shots where its distinctive bubble bokeh is especially visible (*with the right light and background!). However the bokeh and slight glow which you can see when using the lens with wide open aperture was considered as imperfection back then and therefore it was soon replaced with another lens with more modern and complex optical design (Orestor 100mm f/2.8). And yet came the time when almost all lenses in production by any brand in the world are super sharp without optical flaws (either by their design or with help of embedded software correction profiles and photographers and videographers are looking for something to make their work to stand out of the unified crowd. And here comes the demand and appreciation of vintage character which is in fact a manifestation of optical design imperfection but at the same time offers pleasing rendition which shifts the focus of viewers from optical perfection of the image to the creators idea captured in the image.
To make the long story short, this lens is not optically perfect - if that is what you are after then look elsewhere. But if you find inspiration in vintage photographs or movies then the pleasing soft rendition of this lens will reward you with distinctive vintage look. Yes, you need to know what you are doing or you need to learn it. This lens will not turn any random snapshot into a masterpiece by itself. But if you understand what you find pleasing on vintage photographs you can explore your creative abilities with it.
Also - important to mention - this lens IS NOT only about "bubble bokeh"! Being derivation of century old Cooke triplet formula used (and still used today) by film makers for its organic and smooth bokeh it can produce beautiful images even without the bubbles. Personally I love this lens especially for Back and White images. Wide open for pleasing portraits with just a hint of "glow" in the image and when you stop the lens down a bit it becomes sharp as gains contrast. But even wide open there is plenty of detail in the images just veiled in that soft shroud of glow. This feature/quality predestines this lens for poetic and atmospheric images (portraits, moody landscapes with soft sunrise/sundown light or even better with some fog and haze, rainy street scenes...) and all that preferably in B/W :)
And last word about the mechanics - this is all manual focus lens with no electrical contacts in it - just like any "real" vintage lens! So you should know how to operate it. It is not difficult but it require you to master manual focus and learn your camera exposure to have real fun using this lens and explore your creativity.
Choose wisely if this lens is for your photographic style and enjoy! :)
As stated before, this will probably not be your main lens, but for the specific results that it can produce, there is a chance that you will want to have it with you all the time. I bought mine for a specific project, have it for a month and already loving it. Being so versatile, there's no fear of getting bored by it at some point. Well done, TTArtisan!
If TTArtisan would develop in addition to the 100mm a
50mm F2.8 Bubble Bokeh
35mm F2.8 Bubble Bokeh
I would immedeately buy them first thing in the morning.
This 100mm lens is simply great!
Since I got the lens it has performed brilliantly. I prefer this lens over 'the other' 27mm lens for Fuji. The best performance per dollar lens I have.
A very fun lens to use. Good overall quality.
Ho acquistato questo obiettivo per il fantastico bokeh che offre. È un'ottima alternativa al Trioplan.
Tilt-Shift 100mm F2.8 2X Macro
I really like the lens, it's like an old classic lens only it's new smooth and clean with bright colours. And the special bubble effect is beautiful it's plenty sharp for my taste. TTartans is a great company I like all the lenses I have tried, thanks for bringing us this unique lens.
It may not be as sharp as 99% of all modern lenses, but it’s far more fun and inspiring to use than 99% of all of those. Beautiful bokeh. I hope TTArtisan take a look at other vintage lenses like the Helios and Jupiter and vintage Zeiss ranges and hopefully they can bridge the gap between those and modern lenses by providing some with autofocus and excellent glass , yet still maintaining that classic image. Now THAT would be interesting. Good luck TTArtisan.
